Dear colleagues,
Today 25th September 2007, it is a great day for IFATSEA and all ATSEP worldwide.
At the third meeting of the ICAO Technical Commission, I introduced WP-210 (see www.icao.int) that was drafted jointly by IFATSEA and ITF.
I am very happy to report that this working paper was supported by the meeting thus tasking ICAO to put ATSEP Licensing into their work program.
I would like to thank the States and Organisations that supported our papers and spoke in favour: France, IFATCA, Japan, Colombia, India, Italy, Nigeria and partly USA.
Also, I would like to thank Affiliates who have lobbied their States Representatives for gaining their support. A first step has been taken but more work has to be done and I am looking forward to further support.
Many thanks and Congratulations to all!
Yvan Ouellette
President

Safety Compromized in German Airspace!
Today I found the ENGLISH version of the TV-Report of THE MAIN-German TV-channel (ARD).
In
December 2004 an incident of total breakdown of ATCO voice-radio for
approachcontrol of Frankfurt-airport at daytime, because of
serviceactivities on the USP!
The loss had a duration of 70 seconds, till the ATCO could reach the approaching planes again and created 2 nearmisses with 3 planes involved!
This incident was NOT announced to and
investigated by the official german investigation Unit (BFU). This was
found out by the reporter Tim van Beveren, who is quite known in
airtraffic journalism.
We'll try to
get the video and the rights to promote it over IFATSEA, which is part
of the report as well as our well known Heinz Wipf!
Enjoy it ...or be scared a bit.
Here the link to the video as realplayer lifestream (links at the left side); the english version is the secon:

IFATSEA's Executive 2007 - Stockholm
Well IFATSEA's 2007 interim executive board meeting is over.....and what a meeting!
First of all, our most sincere thanks to our gracious host in Sweden, SIF for the organization,
and in particular to Kjell, Knut and Susan for all the hard work.
Coming out of a very busy but fruitfull SESAR meeting, some of us wondered if if could get better,....well it did!
The renewed IFATSEA executive board met with an overloaded agenda....but we are all used to that by now and the new challenges presented by the SESAR project
were analised and IFATSEA's strategy outlined, as ever taking a global view of this projects impact ( oportunity ) on ATSEP,
The Next-Gen Project on the other side of the Atlantic, involving many other countries worldwide shows that our view has indeed to be global on this issue.
It is also a matter of great satisfaction to have the oportunity to have Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Island all present.
...next, a Nordic Regional meeting.....IFATSEA's European Regional Director would be Happy!

IFATSEA is participating in the SESAR definition phase document development.
Under the coordination of IFATSEA Vp Theodore Kiritsis, the participation in the ongoing meetings is being assured by Heinz Wipf, Carlos Viegas and Fillipo Tomaselo.
Carlos Viegas will setup a Eurogroup support team to help review the many documents being produced and also to develop ATSEP specific content for these documents , which otherwise would not be there.
